Madalyn M.

My love of animals started at a young age. My family had dogs, cats, horses, and goats. Anytime someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always to become a veterinarian. I am pursuing that dream by attending Purdue West Lafayette studying Animal Science on the Pre-Vet track. I have a passion for helping animals. It’s hard for me to go past an animal without having to pet it!

If you could be any animal in the world, what would it be, and why?
If I could be any animal, it would have to be a dog. Sounds basic, I know, but dogs are such a loyal companion.
Do you currently have any pets? What are their names and what is your favorite thing about them?
I currently have 1 dog, 2 barn cats, 6 miniature horses, 1 quarter horse, 1 mini mule, and 1 full size mule. My favorite thing about all of them is that they all have different personalities.
What do you find most rewarding about working with animals?
What I find more rewarding is knowing that the animals got the best care while being away from their families and creating special bonds with each of the animals that come in.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I am not working I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and being around all of my animals.
